Classic in Camel (& Neiman Marcus designer gift card promo!)
Ann Taylor pants 00p (waist altered), Manolo Blahnik pumps sz 35, Goyard tote H&M top (old, current version in black), Ann Taylor jacket (old, similar)
Today's outfit is simple, composed of all neutral colors and mostly older pieces. I hope some of you were able to pick up these trousers from my recent posts (last blogged here in navy)! The combination of the higher waistline floor-grazing flare makes for a flattering silhouette that I can't get enough of. I only wish the waist was nipped in more - got mine tailored about an inch or two for a more snug fit.
On the sale front, both Neiman Marcus (code OCTGC, ends tonight 10/19) and Saks (code OCT2016, ends today 10/21) are having tiered gift card promotions, including some designer pieces that rarely go on actual discount. At Neiman Marcus, get up to a $300 gc for $1000 spent - Stuart Weitzman boots like the popular Lowland, Highland, and new Midlands qualify for a $200 gift card, the classic Manolo Blahnik BB pumps I'm wearing here qualify for $100 gift card, and Burberry coats are included too but with limited sizes left. At Saks, the gift card tiers are more beneficial for bigger splurges (get up to a $700 gc for a $3000 purchase).
Baublebar "Y" pyramid necklace slim bar necklace (have this in rose gold, too!)
I always came across bodysuits (those blouses with leotard-like bottoms) at trendier stores and never gave them a second glance. I once thought they were a odd form of lingerie for those who like extra coverage up top (ha!)...but now that I wear more high-waisted bottoms, the purpose of bodysuits becomes a little more clear.
Two of the most common questions I get is how to tuck tops into bottoms with no bulge, and also how to keep tops securely tucked-in without coming undone. Bodysuits apparently kill both birds with one stone, as they look just like normal tops but with a secured underwear-like bottom (with crotch snaps for the restroom). My top here is very old and has slight bulging issues when tucked in, so I've been eying some one-pieced versions like this one. For the bodysuit wearers out there, let us know your thoughts on if they're comfortable and practical!
Here's a few blouses currently available in a similar draped, cross-over silhouette:
