The Deep Cleanse

Prepare for a pretty dramatic statement, but I thought if I said it here, with all of you reading this, then I couldn’t back out of it.

I want to perform a deep cleanse on my life

There I said it. Well typed it. For as long as I can remember I’ve had a terrible tendency to hoard things that either were not good for me or to an excess. Be that objects, people, emotions etc. And as Surfaced Studio has told me very times before, the price I pay for feeding this deep seeded insecurity I have is to be content / happy.

So, I’m going to slowly work on cleansing all aspects of my life. Note the word slowly! I’m rarely ever at home (in fact as you read this I’m likely on a plane to Sydney again) so the whole process can take a bit.

I’m not sure how well I’ll be at documenting the process on my blog, but I would like to try. And if you need some examples as to what I mean, then I refer you to my makeup / shoe / handbag collection, which as I type this does not even fit in their designated areas anymore aka I have boxes stacked up everywhere. I think I’ve really only been comfortable to have two of my closest girlfriends come over (they know who they are, and I thank them for never judging me!) to kind of half witness the mess that I call my home. It’s really very suffocating. Worse still is that I’d say 80% of what I own doesn’t get used. So I’m going to work on either using more things, or getting rid of it.

In terms of lifestyle, I want to improve my energy levels. I’m not saying I want to be healthy or incredibly fit, I just want to have enough energy to not feel completely exhausted by the end of the day. And that does come down to better eating and exercise. It’s one of Surfaced Studio’s dream to hike up to Machu Picchu, and at my current fitness level, there is no way I could make it, so that is one of my goals.

But it’s not just about energy levels, but also mental state. I want to do things I love to do because I love to do it. Whether it be a blog post, a video, an activity or well… anything! I don’t want to dedicate my life to living it the way others have told me to. 2015 is about being happy and living my life the way I want to live it.

So there you have it! A high level outline on what I’m hoping to achieve. I’d like to try and do monthly check ins to see how I’m going so I’ll need to sort that out!

But let me know if you guys have any tips on how to stay on top of things like this. My main issue has been obviously laziness, but also working long hours or often traveling for work. I find it difficult to really do much when I’m living out of a suitcase in different hotels. But any tips you could offer, I would love to hear!

P.S: The photo above is taken by me at Safety Beach at sunset. This falls into the “doing things you love” category, going for photography runs with Surfaced Studio at sunset.
