Dressing For Success

So it’s a new year and a new start, this year I turn 23 and my attention has turned to my work wear wardrobe (which is due some much needed rejuvenation). Maybe you’ve set yourself some new goals, a career change, a step up the ladder, a new business venture or you want to challenge yourself, and your looking for inspiration on what to wear, well, you came to the right place.

“The ultimate measure of a man is not where he stands in moments of comfort and convenience, but where he stands at times of challenge and controversy.”
Martin Luther King Jr.

Being positive about new opportunities is a must for me, if your mind is in the right place it’s just a matter of time before everything else will fall into place. But not only does your mind need to be in the right place, so does your confidence and appearance. So, we’ve all heard the phrase ‘first impressions count’ which they do, but to give a great first impression, you need to feel comfortable and confident.

“If you put a small value upon yourself, rest assured that the world will not raise your price.”

Whether it’s for a job interview, or you just want to give your work wardrobe a make over that says ‘I work hard and I won’t stop until I’ve taken over the world’ this is one of my outfits featuring some classic items that can be worn time and time again.

I adore L.K. Bennetts dresses, worn buy the K-Mid herself I had to get my paws on the classic Davina dress, but due to it’s high price tag I took my search to eBay and picked up the dress in a gorgeous grey colour for £80. I teamed this with a contrast black bag to stand out, my new Mulberry Bayswater which I recently caved and bought (which you can read about here). Classic black courts are also a must, I got this pair from French Connection – down from £120 to just £24! And to finish the look for the winter time, I love my black wool wrap coat from Ted Baker. I got this coat on a discount day, but it was still a lavish purchase but not one I regret, I wear it all the time and think it can really smarten up an outfit. All these are my investment purchases, made up of solid colours that you can easily give a creative edge too using coloured silk scarves and waist belts.

I hope this has inspired some working wardrobes. What are your goals for 2013?
