Nail trend 2013: Lilac & Plum
I’m not sure what’s got into me recently, but having chipped nails has become a pet hate. There was a time I would wear the same chipped black nail varnish until I got time to take it off – now I MAKE time. I can honestly say I’ve never had a manicure (I really should!), and the rare few times I’ve stuck false nails on they tend to ruin my nails, so nail polish is my favourite alternative.
I recently got given a gorgeous Essie lilac nail polish, alongside a Revlon nail art (moon candy) double end polish. Well, without haste I took to using both my new nail polishes in one go and the results were OKAY, yes, just okay.
The moon candy looked great, but I also put the glitter on top of the lilac which didn’t work so well. I try to avoid too many dark colours unless it’s a special occasion, hammering away at a keyboard all day means if a dark colour chips it instantly looks bad, hence my love for baby pinks and pastel shades. I love the Essie lilac and have worn it numerous times since, but the moon candy I’m afraid is going away for special occasions.
