Fair + True african print skirt

ph/private

This has to be one of my all time favourite purchases. I love the print and the colours, this print is not something I could wear daily but I really gravitated towards it when I first saw it. I just could not get it out of my head. It reminds me of when I went to Africa nearly 15 years ago now. My mum brought so many dresses and skirts in the most amazing prints and the skirt just brings back great childhood memories. The skirt is also fashion conscience in that it is fair trade and seriously ethical.

If I created a fashion blog it is in part because I enjoy fashion and find the industry fascinating – to say the least. However, with such an ephemeral business, and one that is by nature constantly changing, very fickle and hugely wasteful – I really believe it is important that the wonder and magic associated to this industry is not shadowed by the violation of ethical and environmental policies. It is nice to know that this skirt is both ethical and eco friendly – be it recycled, organic cotton, non-toxic, fair trade, sustainable, vegan or non-exploitative.

As the length was a bit long, I just chopped the bottom of it, and I love it even more with the frayed seam. I just hope I can get to wear it some time soon. You can find similar items here or over at Fashion Conscience.
