Marylebone Crew

Marylebone High Street has to be one of my favourite streets in London. It’s always my go-to for Christmas shopping and last-minute birthday gifts with Diptyque, The Conran Shop, Daunt Books and Space NK to name a few favourites, and The Natural Kitchen and Nordic Bakery (no Marylebone trip is complete without one of their cinnamon buns) nearby for refuelling. So when the lovely J.Crew got in touch to tell me their newest London store was to be on this very street, and asked if I’d get involved in the launch, I jumped at the chance to spend even more time in one of my favourite hoods.

Ahead of the opening, I thought it was only right I did a reccy and headed down to Marylebone, visiting the brightly coloured barricade designed by artist Morag Myerscough currently housing the store while at it. It also seemed like a fitting time to take some favourite pieces from the new collection out for a debut spin. I’ve tried and failed to be that brave soul that can look relaxed and toasty with bare legs in anything under 10 degrees, but within five minutes all semblence of makeup and enthusiasm evaporates, leaving me grey, cangry (that’s cold and angry) and with a face no camera wants to capture. Thankfully, J.Crew speaks my language and I found some much-needed updates for my tried and tested winter uniform, namely the best pair of leather trousers I’ve yet to find and a khaki coat dreams are made of that I swaddled myself in before I’d even left the store. I always love the unexpected combination of a clutch bag with sneakers too; it somehow makes your look hard to define or put in a particular box and I like that.

Anyway, back to that new store… I’ll be hosting a little cocktail party at the soon-to-open J.Crew store (19 Marylebone High Street) on the 18th February and would love you to come down, join the festivities and be the first to see the new shop. Please come along and join myself and J.Crew for drinks, canapes and of course shopping between 6-8 p.m on the 18th. There’ll also be a DJ in residence and free tote bags for all guests (while they last). If you’d like to join us, please send a quick e-mail confirming your attendance to [email protected] and I’ll see you there…

N.B. Please note the guest list has now closed as we’ve reached maximum capacity thanks to an overwhelmingly positive response. To all those who have already RSVP’d, I’m looking forward to seeing you on the 18th! If you haven’t RSVP’d, I’m sorry not to have you but I’m sure there’ll be another event soon.
