The Foundation Treble Crochet Stitch (or "ftr" for short, although I've seen some other abbreviations for it too) is a very handy skill to have in your crochet tool box. It eliminates the need for a starting chain...you work both chains and treble crochet stitches as you go!

- Step 1: Start with a slip knot on your hook.
- Step 2: Chain 5
- Step 3: Wrap yarn around hook two times.
- Step 7: Wrap yarn around hook and bring it through next two loops on the hook (2 loops on the hook)
- Step 8: Wrap yarn around hook and bring it through last two loops on the hook (1 loops left on the hook)
*This completes the first ftr. Step 9 begins the second ftr on your row.
- Step 9: Wrap yarn around hook twice.
