Makeup Revolution Iconic Elements palette review and swatches - neutral shadows FTW!
As a neutral eye colour lover, this palette just about sums up my nude shadow dreams and rolls them into a happy, beigy-taupey-brown ball. Heart-eyed emojis times ten. If the shades look a little familiar, it might be because this lush almost-all-matte palette from Makeup Revolution has likely been inspired by the Naked Basics (1 and 2) palettes from Urban Decay. Having owned both of those palettes for ages, and considering my original Naked Basics is totally battered due to being one of my most used, I'm pretty well placed to tell you how the Makeup Revolution Iconic Elements palette measures up.
First off, how clever of Makeup Revolution to smash together all of the amazing neutral shades similar to both of Urban Decay's Naked Basics palettes? Although I own both of the UD versions, and the original is the one I get the most use from as I absolutely love the taupe for an easy all over lid colour (the middle shades in this palette are really close matches), and I sometimes mix the darkest shades to do my brows. I like the shades in the second version of the Naked Basics too, but I sort of forget I have that palette sometimes, so having all twelve shades in a row available at once in this Makeup Revolution palette will encourage me to mix and match a little more.
You have twelve neutral shades in this palette ranging from light to dark and including cool and warm tones. They're all lovely soft mattes, aside from one shimmer shade in a light cream (a dupe of the shade Venus from the original Naked Basics palette) - great for a little bit of brow bone or inner corner highlighting, so you don't need to reach for another palette unless you want to. It has everything I want from a neutral eye palette for simple daytime looks. I can even do my brows with these shades, and the darkest colour can double as a liner.
All of these shades swatch really well, and I think of all of the Makeup Revolution palettes I've tried, this is probably my favourite so far - you just can't tempt me away from easy neutrals! The colours in this palette are so close to the ones in the Naked Basics palettes, and the quality of the shadows is really comparable, so if you don't already own the high end orginals, you won't be missing out if you opt to save your money and go for this highstreet dupe. For £4 the amount of product you're getting and the quality of the shades is really amazing - I don't know how they do it!
