Healthy Start

Express Core Top, Pants and Sports Bra c/o Ray Ban Sunglasses, Nike Sneakers

Staying active and living a healthy lifestyle keeps me happy and energized. I don’t work out with a desired body image in mind, a goal of weight to lose or to get rid of a “problem area”. I look at it as more of a lifestyle of staying fit and treating my body the best I can so I can feel my best. It’s a combination of consistency, eating healthy, not drinking alcohol too often and drinking water way more often.

I’m no fitness expert and I’m not going to pretend that I know everything about working out but I do have a few tips of ways I keep active and well. When I’m home, I love to either start my day or end it with a pilates or spin class 3-4x a week. Since I’ve been traveling a lot more over the past couple of months, I’ve created my own routine that’s helped me stay in shape and stay energized to feel my best. Thomas and I are early risers, so we like to get up, stretch and either take a walk or run at sunrise or thereafter. I have a mini circuit that I like to do (with exercises I learned from my trainer in college when I was on the dance team) that includes a variety of abs, lunges, sprints, squats and arms. Depending on how motivated I’m feeling that day/how much time I have, I’ll spend anywhere from 20-40 minutes doing rounds of these. Even a short 20-minute workout is better than nothing! If I’m not able to get a workout in in the morning, I try to walk as much as possible throughout the day instead of taking public transportation. Staying hydrated is also key in feeling your best, especially while traveling. Drinking lots of water has helped me with not getting lethargic, jet lag or puffy/swollen (which happens a lot after flying, especially long flights).

Finding cute workout gear always helps me stay motivated, especially if it’s something I want to slip into in the morning. My go-tos are usually black leggings but I like to get really colorful and mix prints with my tops and sports bras. These Express pieces are right up my alley and so, so comfy which is the most important thing I look for in workout clothes.

I would love to know tips, exercises, etc. that you guys use to stay in shape and keep healthy! I’m always motivated so much more when I workout with a girlfriend (sorry, Thomas, I just can’t keep up with you) or find someone inspiring online who has great advice or workout tips.
