Top 10 Children’s Wallpapers

Wallpapering your child’s room is one of the easiest ways to bring a jolt of personality and whimsy to the space. Whenever we get the opportunity to design a nursery or kid’s room, we almost always suggest a colorful wallpaper. Even if you’re just wallpapering one wall (like in this photo below) it can really make a room.

We have certain favorite wallpapers that we come back to again and again when suggesting a wallpaper for clients’ kid’s rooms; some are classics that have been around for many years, others are newer to the market. In no particular order, these are our top 10 favorite children’s wallpapers.

1. Brunschwig & Fils Battle of Valmy 1792 This paper feels old school in the best possible way.
2. Hinson & Co Spatter is great for both walls AND ceilings. Painted blue or white walls and a ceiling papered in Spatter is a unique way of using wallpaper that always looks great.
Below, designer Tom Scheerer uses it on the walls in a boy’s bedroom.
3. Katie Ridder Pagoda Katie Ridder makes some of the cutest wallpapers for kids.
The chocolate brown Pagoda colorway, below, is a sophisticated take on a children’s wallpaper that would certainly be appropriate for years to come.
4. Katie Ridder Beetlcat A fresh, all-American take on the classic sail boat. We haven’t found another sail boat wallpaper we like more.
5. Sister Parish Serendipity Another great paper to use on ceilings because of its small scale and white background.
It works wonders to make this tiny attic space feel like the coziest room in the house.
6. LuLu DK for F. Schumacher & Co Ode to Matisse The color palette of artist LuLu DK’s wallpapers for Schumacher are incredibly vibrant and modern feeling. This paper below could work in either a boy or girl room.
7. F. Schumacher & Co Balloons Timeless and so fun. A great paper for a play room as well.
Miles Redd designed a whimsical kid’s room featured in House Beautiful magazine a few years ago using Balloons.
8. Lee Jofa Bunny Wall is a new collaboration with artist Hunt Slonem for Groundworks (Lee Jofa). An entire room covered in this paper would be bit much, but one wall? Tres chic.
9. Osborne & Little Coronata Star A slightly larger scale star than Sister Parish’s Serendipity, this paper works well on walls or ceilings for a little extra pizazz.
10. Osborne & Little Hothouse A little bit modern, your daughter won’t be aged out by this sophisticated paper.
Now it’s your turn. What are your all-time favorite children’s wallpapers? We’re dying to know!
