CONDO LIVING: KITCHEN SHELVING

Hello there! I'm at home again today and as far as work is concerned will be until next Tuesday. This is sure getting old and is quite frustrating, but on a positive note I have extra time to work on blog and condo stuff and get caught up on lots of things before our Vegas vacation in a few of weeks. As I'm sure you are all aware as I've said many times before, we have a small galley kitchen. It's not the smallest kitchen ever, but its pretty small and way smaller then our kitchen was in our one bedroom apartment which had an awesome island in the center. It also needs a bit of updating and is definitely lacking in the storage department. All of the cabinets and the pantry are full to the top at this point. When we first moved in I had to tear out the shelving in the pantry and redo it with adjustable shelving to make it more efficient. I also went out and bought a wire shelving unit earlier this year which has helped some and looks great, but I have some delicate pieces that need to be up high and showcased like cake plates, syrup pitchers, and other glass items I want away from kitty paws. I don't have the room for a glass cabinet so I was thinking of putting up some shelves on the only wall I have left to do anything with. It's a fairly narrow wall that connects our kitchen to the living room and I can't have too deep of shelves because we would bump into them every time we went between rooms so I was thinking of doing two shelves fairly high up with black brackets and 8-10 inch deep shelves. If I hang them high then I can add some hooks or a bar below for things like kitchen mitts, towels, strainers, etc. I got 2 sets of black iron brackets from Target and bought some walnut stain already and Ian was going to bring some boards home from work for me to use. I can't wait to share how they turn out, but in the meantime I wanted to show you all some pictures of where I got the inspiration.

I've ruled out doing all white shelves so like I said before I thought black brackets with a walnut stained shelf would be best. I can't wait to stain the shelves and put everything together and see my idea come to life. I'm hoping it all works out and they serve the purpose I need them for. So what you think? Sound like a good idea? Wish me luck!
