Farmhouse Bathroom Update!

In our farmhouse we have one bathroom upstairs that the 3 bedrooms on that level share. We decided to stay in one of those bedrooms so we can be close to our kids at night while they are little. The actual master bedroom is located on the main level. Anyway, the upstairs bathroom is being shared by all of us right now, so I decided to spruce it up a little. Audrey and I are thinking of making the current master bathroom into a girly bathroom just for us, but that project will have to wait a little while. Even though this bathroom was dated, it was in great shape and offered tons of natural light. All it needed was a little fix up.

Here is what it looks like now after all my budget friendly updates. The goal here was to spend as little as possible to make the space feel more up to date without doing any major renovating. I think I finally achieved that.

I basically just painted EVERYTHING! Even the counter tops, sinks, and bathtub! I used one of those tub and tile refinishing kits to refinish the sinks and bathtub, and I slightly modified a tutorial I found on Pinterest to paint the counters. I will go into more detail about how I did all that in a future post!

I decided to go ahead and switch out the light fixtures because there was just no saving the ones that were there, they were pretty rough looking. So far I have only set out a few accessories like this vase that I found on antiquefarmhouse.com, a small framed photo of my children, and a glass vase filled with pine cones.

I scored a great deal on a couple of cute stools at Target a while back. They were on clearance for only $14.99 each! At the time I had no idea what I would do with them, but now we are using one in here. It's the perfect spot to hold our basket of towels. I am planning to add some shelving and hooks on the walls but haven't got around to getting that done yet. I would also like to frame out the mirrors one day.

We removed the old shower doors and opted for a curtain instead. I found this fabulous shower curtain at Bed, Bath, & Beyond. I love the colors, texture, and the cute fringes at the bottom. It's exactly what I was looking for!

I chose a simple jute rug to ground the space and add a little texture to the floor. I found this one at TJ Maxx. The woven shade and towel basket also provide a little texture and warmth to the room.

I love how this room looks and feels now. I feel like we were able to maintain the character of the home while making this space feel brighter, cleaner, fresher, and prettier!
Here is another look back at the before and {in progress} shots.

Thanks so much for visiting! Have a BLESSED day!
