10-Minute No-Sew Pamper Gift: EOS Lip Balm Flower

Have you see the adorable crocheted lip balm gifts floating around out there? I’m GREEN with envy over some of my friends’ crochet skills, but I just don’t crochet. It’s on my list of things I want to learn… someday… in all my spare time (insert crazy laughter here). But, just because I can’t crochet, doesn’t mean I can’t still join in the fun with an EASY no-sew idea for giving a lip balm gift.

For the record, EOS isn’t sponsoring this post, this is totally just for fun, because their lip balms are the perfect shape to play with, when you think crafty thoughts. Plus, the $3 price point is a great one for small gifts – dressing it up says, “I’m thinking of you!” without anyone feeling guilty over too much money spent. And who can’t use pampering gifts like lip balms?

Here’s what you’ll need for a quick thank-you gift – or a little gift for any occasion! The links below are affiliate links, in case you’d like to make a purchase, it does support my blog (and thanks for that!)

Now, you may have noticed that I’m all about the recycled t-shirts lately – I’ve been working on dozens of ways to re-use old t-shirts. I have scraps like crazy after cutting apart all those retired shirts, and that’s what I’m using here! But a few 5″ squares of fabric are all you need, so you can either buy some or raid your own scraps for something soft and stretchy.

All you need to do is create a paper template for your fabric, and trace it on and cut it out. I made a flower that was roughly 4.5 inches in diameter, and cut a 2-1/2″ circle out from the center. Since I got my die-cutter out for the tag, I also used it to create my template – but, you can definitely sketch your template by hand!

Cut 4 coordinating (or contrasting) layers of flower circles, and slip them onto the egg-shape of the lip balm. Use a couple of dots of fabric glue to hold them together. They should stretch nicely and fit snugly over the balm.

Next, create your tag! I’m pretty much in love with my Sizzix Big Shot so I use it for most of my paper crafts, but this doesn’t have to be a fancy, complicated, or expensive step. A sweet handwritten note will easily fit the bill. You guys just don’t want to see my handwriting, haha – a pretty tag like this is necessary for a good-looking photo. ;)

Now, just use a bit of matching baker’s twine to tie your tag on. I inverted my tag so that the hole was at the bottom, that way the packaging holds it up front and center. Now, just give it to someone special for an instant day-brightener!
