Paper Butterfly Specimen Art

Butterflies are such an icon of spring, aren’t they? I would typically not say I’m butterfly-crazy, but I swear, every time spring finally arrives, I kind of am. I love those beautiful butterfly art specimens, but it kind of weirds me out to hang a dead butterfly on my wall. I gt it that they don’t live long and it’s a wonderful way to enjoy them, even if their life cycle is over… but still, no thanks. So the solution, of course, is that I made my own!

What I love most about making my own is adding whatever color butterflies I want to it. I put hues of pink and orange into a rustic-style shadow box frame to hang in my studio. There are so many beautiful butterfly shaped dies out there to use in your paper crafting, you you can even make them look like different species to lend a bit of realism to your creation.

I’m sharing the full tutorial over at the Core’dinations blog, so come stop by and say hello and get the scoop on how easy it is to make your own butterfly specimens from paper – in any color that strikes your fancy, and all without harming a single creature. :)
