How To Work That Line

Using Dior Art Pen

The thing I love about beauty is that they keep improving the tools that we use. I was introduced to the ‘eyeliner pen‘ that resembles a felt tip a few years ago, and to say this completely changed my beauty eye makeup routine is an understatement. I remember trying to work out as a teenager time and time again how to create that bold eyeliner using a blunt very black eye pencil. A complete disaster. And I’ve never gone near a pot and brush, it all seems a bit too fussy for my liking, I’ll leave that one to the makeup artists!

What works best for me when using the pen is to line 1/2 to 3/4 of the top eye line building out towards the outer ends with the most subtle kick. The flick probably stretches out 1-2mm max from the natural end of the eye and has a small upwards angle, following my eyes natural curve. I feel lining the entire line towards the inner corners makes my eye appear smaller and more round, whereas this technique creates more of an almond shape and opens up the eye. I also fill in between the lashes with the eyeliner pen by going under the lashes, but above the water line. This is very easy with this kind of tool and it makes the lashes look thick, exactly how we like them!
