Sweet made sweeter | a fabulous weekend

Ah, this weekend was great. My birthday was on Friday (32! Where did you come from?) and I’m lucky to have a husband and family that let me extend the day should it fall on a weekend like that. Friday was awesome, I spent the morning with my favorite little lady and right as we were getting ready to go on some adventures, Scot surprised me by coming home early. So the three of us spent the afternoon together and that evening my mama joined us for delicious Chinese food (after all it was her birth day, too).

Saturday my in-laws took Harper for a sleepover. They have a great house on a small lake – it’s basically a kids summer dream. A dock, lots of ducks and geese to watch, and neighbors waving to you from their small boats. It was weird to not have the kiddo around for an entire day, we weren’t sure what to do with ourselves, so we ran errands, ate a lots of food in public places in peace and quiet and then slept until 11 am on Sunday. SERIOUSLY. Oooh, heaven is a place on earthhh.

Then we (Scot, my mom and I) headed over to the in-laws to pick up Harper and eat burgers and kick around in the sunshine for the afternoon. My father in law recently got a kayak and the guys took turns taking Harper out on the water. She was so cute in her tiny life vest and is a natural around water – not afraid at all. I was the same way when I was little, swimming was literally all I cared about. Out on her kayaking adventures she swooped up some lily pads and flowers and it was just fun watching her and thinking about how these are going to be her childhood memories. I’m sappy and pregnant, what can I say.

On the way home we stopped to get some Frosty waffle cones at Wendy’s. Because when you’re 7 months pregnant (or not pregnant at all, either way really) and someone emails you asking if you’d like to try one, I’m not sure how one says no to that. I sure couldn’t. Frostys have always been a favorite of my mom and I. It wasn’t Harper’s first time at the Frosty rodeo, but I think she really liked the waffle cone part (who wouldn’t?)(I guess maybe Scot since he ordered just a regular one. Who are you?).

(these two)

While Scot ate one with a spoon, my mom, Harper and I enjoyed our cones. Of course H couldn’t finish all of hers but she got a proper sugar high and made us all laugh. We made it home in time for a quick bath to clean off the lake and I fell asleep with that awesome feeling you have after a weekend that was just right. Basically, a fabulous birthday weekend and I’m excited for 32. 32!

Disclosure-y stuff: This post was sponsored by Wendy’s. I have always loved Wendy’s (jr bacon cheesburgers foreva!), which is why I chose to do one of my few sponsored opportunities with them. All opinions are my own, as always!
