12 Minutes – A New Way To Workout

I got really bored with my regular exercise routine. I like to switch things up. A lot. It seems like every two months, I need to try something new, or pull out an old workout. I tried out www.thedailyburn.com for about a month and I really liked it. Then I became sick and didn’t work out for about three weeks. Now that I’m back into the swing of things, I decided to try out something new!

I really love this workout routine, because it only requires me to work out for 12 minutes a day.

Yes, you read that right. TWELVE Minutes. Actually, only 6. Half of that 12 minutes is rest time.

Okay, okay, I hear the the skepticism. How can you get in shape with only 6 minutes of actual exercise a day?

I’m not a doctor, but let me try to explain and go into the science of fat burning for a bit.

Your body stores energy in the form of Glycogen. When you do high intensity exercise, your body releases a bunch of hormones, one being Leptin. The Leptin tells your body to deplete its Glycogen stores. Leptin is only released through high intensity exercises when you push your body to perform at 90-100% of its ability. After your Glycogen stores are depleted, your body burns fat to replace them.

12 minutes of high intensity is all your body needs to release this hormone. In fact, exercising too much can actually damage this hormonal process and cause you to gain fat weight and actually start burning muscle. Yikes!

This high intensity exercise is called Burst or Surge Training (HIT is also similar.) Traditional cardio will only cause your body to burn fat for up to two hours after exercise. Burst training, and specifically MaxT3, causes your body to be a fat burning machine for up to 36 hours! This is called the “Afterburn Effect.”
