What Suzi Loves {Jose Villa – Photographer}

“If you don’t go after what you want, you’ll never have it. If you don’t ask, the answer is always no. If you don’t step forward, you’re always in the same place.”

Growing up I never said that I wanted to be a photographer. My father always had a camera with him, but it was never something I longed to do. I didn’t get into photography until we took a class in school and even then it was something fun to do. I can’t really pinpoint a time but I remember my mom bought me my first digital camera and then I had my friends over and we just had fun with different types of photo shoots! Ever since then, I taught myself everything I could about photography. I started finding and following different photographers’ blogs that I liked and learned from them. So to say now I am professional photographer is kinda crazy for me. I never went to school for it, and I know I still have so much to learn but I knew it was something I wanted to pursue and I did. I took a chance and went with it. Every time I pick up my camera I am more confident with the knowledge that I have taught myself. I look at the first pictures I took so many years ago and look at some I recently took and think, “Wow, I am pretty good.” It took a lot of hard work, but I am proud of myself for not giving up and pushing myself to get better at my craft. I am very excited to keep learning as much as I can.

Today, I wanted to share one of my favorite photographers that inspires me and challenges me to go out and capture photos like no other. His name is Jose Villa. He has such a distinct look about his pictures, I can totally pick his out images out anywhere. They seriously make me so happy inside! I hope you enjoy!
