Bienvenue à Las Vegas

"I only ever play Vegas one night at a time." - Robin Williams

I feel like everyone has to experience Vegas before they die. It’s one of those places so charged with life and sound, losing yourself is but a glorious distraction. While people tend to abide by the promise of what happens in Vegas is forgotten the next morning using Give me notoriety! as their beckoning call, I don’t think I’d want to forget all I’d seen and done. I don’t believe in the fun of forgotten experiences—too abstract. When I go to Vegas, I want it to be memorable. I’ve had plenty of time to sift my musings through the sands of Nevada, dreaming of the Mojave Dessert by dawn, Vegas lights by dusk. And because my mind is temporarily west of my body, I feel I must also tease you with all that’s tempting me.

When I bought this top, I envisioned myself en route, riding the high frequency wavelengths, prepared for any spontaneity. It assists an outfit of seamless transition. Given a pair of flats and a ponytail, the stylized tank top and black short combination serves timeless relevance. It implies quality without garishly bragging it, and slips into a pair of stiletto sandals with equal grace. And in my opinion, it matches the Vegas suit to a tee. I could see myself at The Caesar, coveting the windows of Louis Vuitton and Louboutin, preparing for the inevitable sleepless nights with trips to the Qua. I could see a pair of Chuck Taylors getting friendly with the terra cotta sands of the Grand Canyon. And, given a moment to powder in the bathroom (if that’s still what it’s called), a little white clutch would provide the perfect accessory for dinner in Beijing and a late-night show at the Casino.

I haven’t been to Nevada since dressing like a tourist meant something in the negative fashion to me. Now I’m old enough to appreciate going to, say, the Grand Canyon with more than a tank top and cargo shorts to my name. When going on vacation, as I’m sure you all know, functionality and presentation can be hard to balance. It’s best to find what you’re comfortable in, and wear it to the most exquisite degree. You know the saying well—There’s no place like Vegas—so make sure you reserve a special look for the occasion.
