Message In A Bottle: Lacoste L.12.12

from He Spoke Style - Men's Style, Fashion, Grooming, Tips and Advice

To say that I’m thrilled to be home after 37 days on the road would be the understatement of the year. I always have the oddest feeling when I finally do return home, however. And that is that no matter how long I’ve been away – a day or two, a week, a month – it always feels like I never left. Sure, there are symbols of my long absence, like piles of mail to open, suitcases to unpack, and a bare refrigerator to restock, but I generally feel like I’m picking up right where I left off. It’s like that friend you have who you see once every five years but every time you get together it’s as though no time has passed at all.

There is one thing that feels incredibly different though: the weather. When I hit the road in late February, it was grey, snowy, and absolutely freezing. Now that felt like years ago when I was greeting by the perfect spring weather. And the timing couldn’t have been more welcome. Traveling is fun, but as I’ve mentioned, it’s also extremely tiring and can leave you a more than a touch homesick. Nothing like a bright yellow sun and warm temperatures to stoke some optimism and positive energy.

As the seasons shift, not only do I look forward to changing up my wardrobe – heavy coats and winter-weight garments get retired for six or so months – but also the fragrance I wear. Cologne is one of those non-sartorial finishing touches that really helps to pull everything together and just like how I want my clothes to complement the season, my cologne needs to do the same.

I like my spring fragrance to be light but still have some richness underneath. The new Eau de Lacoste L.12.12 Jaune has found a permanent home in my spring rotation. I get notes of grapefruit and peppercorn on top of a little bit of pine and amber. For me, the amber is what really makes this fragrance.

The entire collection of fragrances is inspired by Rene Lacoste’s iconic menswear garments. I absolutely love when something classic is reinterpreted and given a new voice and different expression via a completely different medium.

| LE CROCODILE CLASSIQUE | Rene Lacoste’s iconic polo shirt heralded the birth of contemporary sportswear and serves as the inspiration for the new Eau de Lacoste L.12.12 fragrance collection.

Each fragrance in the line – I’ve sampled them all – gives off a completely different emotion. Jaune (Yellow)/optimism, Blanc (White)/pure, Bleu (Blue)/powerful, Rouge (Red)/energetic, and Noir (Black)/intense.

Thanks for reading.

Stylishly Yours,

Brian
