Trusting Your Intuition

Hey girl!

Holy moly. This week has been a doozy. I am so blown away by the response to The Confident Closet! You guys seriously are rockin.my.socks.off.

I’ve been thinking a lot about intuition. It’s something that I talk about in the online course as well. Trusting your intuition is a huge part of having confidence in your style, and we talk specifically about ways to gain that self assurance when it comes to how you feel when you are getting dressed in the morning.

Having trust and faith in who you are doesn’t only come into play in our closets, but also in most decisions in our life. Maybe not necessarily in making the decision, but being confident in the decision AFTER we make it.

Last week, I was shopping with an incredible “style blazer” client of mine and she was looking for her ideal dress for an important party she was hosting. She had all these preconceived ideas about what she wanted the dress to be. She wanted the dress to be a bright color, show off her body (what amazing curves!) and be appropriate for a daytime event. She also wanted it to feel special. It was a tall order and once we were shopping, another dress that was totally different slowly creeped into first place. There was just one thing. The dress she felt the best in was black. We had been looking all day for a dress that was bright and colorful AND made her feel great, but every dress we found that met all the requirements on the hanger didn’t make her feel great once it was on. This REALLY threw her for a loop - to the point where she started to doubt if she liked the black dress on herself. It was SO different from what she had originally envisioned. I asked her to take a minute and think about WHY she had created such a long list of prerequisites for this party dress. She said:

“I want to feel confident, gorgeous and sophisticated.”

I then asked her to think more about that feeling. The feeling you get when you are in a dress that you love. When it comes down to it, it wasn’t about the color of the dress, but how the dress made her feel. The black dress made her feel all those things. So I asked her to trust her intuition and see what happened. She ended up wearing the coolest black dress, and we accessorized it with bright jewelry to bring in the color she so deeply desired and to add more of a daytime feel. She sent me a text the day after the party to tell me she felt confident, gorgeous and sophisticated. Mission accomplished.

I want you to take a moment and think about what it would be like to trust your intuition when it comes to getting dressed. It’s not just the initial instinct that’s important; the follow through and not second guessing is the other piece to the puzzle. That trust in your ability to create a killer outfit is more important than you think! I wanted to give you a little sneak peak of the type of exercises and resources are available in The Confident Closet and I thought this would be the perfect opportunity for you to work on trusting your intuition!

This is a style sheet directly from the course. Check it out, do the exercise and then, post on Facebook or tag me on Instagram and let me know any “aha” moments or clarity this brought you! I can’t wait to see what you’ve learned!

The Confident Closet is open for enrollment, and will only have all the special goodies (like access to me in the private Facebook group) as a perk until June 6th! We are starting to create a community of amazing women ready to make a change and it is getting me GIDDY to start! Hope to see you there!

With love; from my closet to yours,

Melanie
