Korean Perms

It’s a well-established fact by now that I am lazy. It’s true. And while I love fashion and style and try my best to keep up my appearance, I’m all about shortcuts. And steps that are one-step. Maybe two. Told ya, L-A-Z-Y.

My absolute favorite shortcut when it comes to my hair is to have it permed. Yes, permed! I know what you’re thinking. Probably something along the lines of this, no?

God bless Barbra, but that’s seriously not what I’m thinking.

What I’m thinking (and have been doing for the last 10 years) is soft waves that are essentially wash-and-go. Enter the Korean perm. Perms have gotten a bad rap since their unfortunate popularity in the 80s. Fortunately, the Korean perm has only gotten better since the grossness nastiness frizziness sadness of the 80s perm. There are several different types of perms you can choose from and they each help you achieve a different type of curl or look. And I mean lots! Check out this salon’s page for lots of different examples at different hair lengths (under the tab marked “Women”).

I was going to try to breakdown different perms with photos and descriptions, but while doing research for this post, I found that the internet does not seem to agree on which perm is which and the same photos of beautifully permed hair were listed as 2 different types of perms. So, instead, I pulled together some photos of permed hair for you to gasp and gawk at , and then I’ll show you some pictures of my own permed hair with the description of the kind of perms I’ve gotten.
