Our LOVE story

It’s Valentines Day and I thought it’d be fun to tell our love story, sorry if you’ve heard it before, but I think it’s a story worthy of being told.

Let’s rewind to the summer of 2002. I was living at home in Sandy taking summer classes at UVU. My car was broken down, so the only way I could get to school was to take the bus. I probably took the bus about 5 or 6 times. Well, one of those times I met Nick.

I remember he came and sat next to me and had really blonde curly hair, smiled a lot, and had a good aura about him. We instantly had a connection. We chatted for about 15 minutes and then got dropped off at UVU where we both had to get to class. He was working for the college relations department and was supposed to get models for the brochure and asked me if I’d like to come be a “model”. I kinda laughed and said, “No, thanks.” Then he asked if he could get my number to which I told him I was dating someone. So we went our separate ways, but I thought about him and knew there was something special about him

Fast forward to a year later, summer of 2003. I was in Orem at Barnes & Noble and ran into him again. He was looking at magazines and we chatted for a couple minutes. He asked me if I was still dating that guy to which unfortunately I said, “yes.” Then he said, “Well you are going to always regret never going out with me because I’m going to be on the cover of this magazine someday.”(He was holding a Forbes magazine) I guess I kinda laughed and walked off. He on the other hand was really embarrassed and called his sister and was like,”I just made a fool out of myself in front of this girl I’ve been wanting to take out.” So his sister laughed and called the two of his other siblings, and the family had a good laugh. They still remember laughing about the Barnes & Noble girl.

Fast forward to summer of 2009. I was living with some girls in Sandy and Marie and I were up late one night talking about how there was no one that we wanted to date and reminiscing about our college days. Well, all of a sudden the name, “Nick Redd” came to me and I really hadn’t thought about him for 6 years, but that night I remembered everything. So I decided to look him up on Facebook and sure enough he was there and his profile picture was of him and a girl. So I thought, “Oh great he got married.” And I left it at that…. The next day I still couldn’t get him out of my mind and I thought, “Well maybe he’s not married.” So I went and checked to see if we had any mutual friends, which we only had 3. I emailed my friend Kelsey and asked if she knew if Nick was married. She wrote back and said, “No, he’s not married.” I was really surprised. So I decided to message him, hoping he would remember me. Well, he did remember me and we messaged back and forth a couple times and then he asked for my number and I was so excited to FINALLY go out with him.

The first time we talked on the phone I was with my mom and I was laughing and it was one of the funnest conversations I’ve ever had. When I hung up the phone my mom was like, “Who was that?!? I haven’t seen you light up like that in forever!” I knew there was a spark and connection between us. I couldn’t wait… So it took only about 2 dates for me to know that this guy was the one. I know that sounds crazy, but it’s true. The old saying, “You just know,” couldn’t have been more true for us. Through all my relationships there was always something off and I never felt 100% good about it, but with Nick, I never even doubted. We had the easiest courtship and I know it was such a blessing to “just know” that he was the one for me. I truly consider him to be the best thing that has ever happened to me.

This is our first pic ever taken together.

I remembered this video that was taken while we were dating. If it doesn’t give you a laugh, I don’t know what will. We were actually watching the olympics and it was figure skating and Nick said the funniest thing and it was all over. We were laughing so hard that my roommate at the time got out her iphone and recorded the fact thatWe COULD NOT stop laughing as the video shows.
