rejoicing.

getting a diagnosis that has the words “brain cell malformation” is never easy and has caused Jon and I many moments of stress and anxiety about Hazel’s future. we have gone to that place of doom and gloom and we have had many thoughts about how God can and will use her for great things and for His Glory. it’s a roller-coaster for sure and we are only 2 months in on the journey. we are rejoicing right now, though, because —-hallelujah!—the meds are working!

we had our neurology checkup on wednesday and Dr. Freilich believes that Hazel is developing right on track for her age up to this point. she has had several days with no obvious seizures and on average 1-2 per day. this is GREATLY improved and we are encouraged that the Trileptil is doing its job. after her appointment, we upped her morning dose and are hopeful to get her to zero seizures for an extended period of time.

Lil’ Sis is just the happiest baby and just started rolling over from her belly to back this week! she sits in the bumbo and plays on the floor with her big Brother and Sister. they pretty much think she walks on water and every little coo and kick is cause for a celebration!

Sister sure has a way of making her baby sister smile for the camera!

we go back to the neurologist in two months were we will start talking about whether or not to start testing or considering surgery as an option for permanent healing. weighing the pros and cons about medicine for the rest of her life or surgery will not be something we take lightly, but do want to do our due diligence on the subject.

as for now, we are rejoicing in Hazel’s progress and are praying for continued healing and success.
