My Winter Decor

If I had any doubt that winter was here, then last week’s sub-zero temps, high-winds, and snow knocked me clearly into reality.

Since I’ve been forced to spend A LOT of time indoors lately, my attention has really been focused on decorating and switching things up around our house.

I’m excited to be serving up some winter decorating inspiration today by participating in “Warming Up For Winter” with two of my favorite bloggers. We know that winter decorating can be especially challenging, and we want to offer up some ideas and show you what we’re doing to decorate this winter.

My foyer recently received a little attention. I switched out the bench and pillows that are normally under the mirror for a newly refinished table and fun accessories.

I love this little snowy owl throw pillow peeking out from under the table!

I’ve been happily using snippings from our pine trees to add a little winter greenery to my vignettes.

Moving into the living room…I kept my deer head from my Christmas mantel on the chalkboard for winter. I love the character that he adds to the living room He makes quite the statement, no? {I just decided while typing that sentence that he was a he…now I must think of a name.}

Right before Christmas, when West Elm had their rug sale, I splurged on a new herringbone jute/chenille rug for our living room. I’m SO glad I did. I love the texture that it adds to our large living room. It makes it feel far more cozy and complete than it did before.

Cozy pillows and throws…a must for winter, right?

As you can see, I’m keeping my decor very neutral right now. I really wanted something that can carry me easily into spring/summer.

The joy banner from Christmas also got to stay…some decor just transitions nicely, doesn’t it? I like the bit of detail that it adds to the mirror, this vignette might look too sparse without it, don’t you think?

I LOVE my new bird cage. I was actually shopping for Miss L’s room, and I brought home like 5 bird cages to try. This one didn’t make the cut for her room, but when I stuck it on my console table, I knew it had to stay here! I stuck some vintage books and more greenery in it, and I’m quite pleased with how it looks!

The neutral decor continues on into the eating area…

The floor plan is all open in my house. All of my decor really has to go together, because you can see it all at the same time. This can be very challenging at times!

See my tutorial for the DIY Pallet Wood Box here.

I really love the way my industrial chairs look with the rustic burlap runner and jute rug. The mix of industrial and rustic is a combination that I think really defines my style.

I hope you found some inspiration today! Stay warm and enjoy the indoors!
