A Rambled Update

It’s been quite a while since my last rambled post. Shocking really as I always used to use my blog as a way to clear my mind and get things out, but let’s be honest, the more time that goes by, the more people read your blog and these days that includes friends, colleagues, family etc.
Basically it’s like when your mum follows you on Facebook, you feel like you're being watched!

Makeup

I’ve become addicted to Estee Lauder’s Matte Perfecting Primer. I was wary of a matte primer as my skin is very dry, but this stuff seems to be the equivalent of an airbrush. I have also loved the Estee Lauder Double wear Concealer under my eyes, despite the lady on the counter when I bought it repeatedly telling me not to use it for that, she was horrified.
I really do get quite tired with counter staff at makeup stands, the poor woman’s skin and makeup was terrible and she was a good 30 years older than me I somehow doubt that we have the same aims when it comes to cosmetics! I managed to convince her to sell it to me finally and we have been inseparable ever since (the concealer and me…just to clarify). I’ve also been using Urban Decay’s naked concealer over the top and down my nose to highlight, and that is brilliant as well, I wish I hadn’t waited so long to purchase.

Nails
Seeing all of the new 10 day nail varnishes that don’t need a UV or LED lamp to cure them has intrigued me. I have bought the Jessica Phenom polish and topcoat, the Barry M Sunlight polish and topcoat and CND’s Vinylux polish and topcoat, so I am currently working my way through trialling those to give you a review on which is the best, and if any of them can replace the need for Shellac and Gel Polish.

Jeremy Loops
Life Update
It’s been quite a musical month, I went to see Jeremy Loops for the second time, this time was at the Islington Assembly Hall. I love his music and his concerts have such good energy. Doesn’t hurt that he’s pretty hot as well. In the same week I went along to my first Prodigy concert, which was definitely a far cry from Jeremy Loops!

Do you ever get the sneaking suspicion that people have really got the wrong impression of you? I definitely think some friends/acquaintances of mine think I am a bit of a delicate flower! I gauge this by the way people reacted when I said I was going to this concert. It does amuse me, as I am not like that at all. I'm not suggesting that I am hard as nails by any stretch of the imagination, people's perceptions of reality are quite different to how things really are a lot of the time.

The Prodigy Concert Crowd
The concert was good, I can’t say Prodigy’s music is my favourite as I like music with a message or some feeling (unless perhaps I am missing some deep and meaningful message behind Smack My B*tch Up?), but it was good to go and I love live music.

On the home front I’ve been buying a few more bits of furniture, a marble topped coffee table and some new lampshades with hanging crystals, a Kelly Hoppen vase and some new cushions. One of these days my flat is going to feel like a home but it does take a long while to get things how you like them.

I watch very little television but, after a shaky start (well I thought it was crap to start with) I have really got into Game of Thrones, about 3 years after the rest of the population. I’ve got to series 4 now finally. I am team Daenerys Targaryen and Tyrion Lannister (I’ll probably find out they’re dead in the new series now)! I wonder who everyone else's favourites are.
A book I have been reading that I really recommend is called SuperFreakonomics, it’s a follow up to the book Freakonomics and is basically more of the same. Random trivia, things you never knew or had never thought about, it asks a lot of questions about the world and is just generally has knowledge about a myriad of topics such as – was causes crime to fall (it’s not what you think) why does this cause this, and why do people do that, it’s very interesting but in a funny way.

Other than the above I haven’t really made any wild purchases recently apart from a proper DSLR camera which arrived this week. I went for the Nikon D5300 and I aim to use it for Blog posts when I get the hang of it, and for holiday photos. I’ve never had a proper camera before so I am a bit wary of it but hopefully it will take great blog photos and I can learn a new skill.

Coming up this weekend we are going away to Hamburg for a few days and then the weekend after I am running the Pretty Mudder obstacle course for Cancer Research, which I am completely not looking forward to, but I figured I should do something for the charity one of these days as my mum and grandad have both had cancer.
Sorry this is a bit long! What have you been up to lately?
