Kid-Friendly Foods: Ham-Telope

This is a play on the more expensive and tasty prosciutto-wrapped cantaloupe I've had at parties. Sweet with a heady dose of salty--my favorite! Prosciutto (a thinly-sliced dry-cured ham) is very expensive, but deli ham is not. On a day I was feeling particularly bored making kid lunches, these two ingredients jumped out at me. Huge hit!

Ham-Taloupe

Deli ham
Sliced cantaloupe

Wrap each piece of cantaloupe with a piece or half-piece of ham, then secure with a toothpick. The end.

I think my kids liked using the toothpicks as much as anything, but they cleaned their plates and asked for seconds. Then thirds. Rob even got in on the action and ate a few plates. With the summer heat, this is an easy, cool option.

Plus, ham-talouope is such a fun name.
