Three films reveal insights into the glaring contrast between home-prepared foods versus foods primed by a food stylist.

Through the use of food dyes, cotton-ball stuffing, imitation ice, and an array of other clever devices, these films explore the many trickeries we are ever presented with by commercial industries in our everyday lives.

It’s real food, but not really.

Directed, Filmed & Edited by Minhky Le
Camera: Panasonic GH4 in 1080p 96fps, 60fps & 4K (compressed to a 1080p timeline).
Settings: James Miller’s settings - Cinelike V, -5 sharpness, -5 saturation, -5 noise reduction.
Glass: Voigtlander 25mm f0.95
Edited and Graded: Premiere CC, FilmConvert.
Sound: Foley was handled by borrowing sounds from all over the internet, and through VideoCopilot’s sound packs and sampling originals.

Details: The overall setup was extremely small. This video I used red contact paper, covering a surface of an IKEA table top, which cost me a total of $10-$15. The ingredients were hand-picked at the local super market making sure I maintained the mindset of a food stylist - picking the perfectly shaped and colored ingredients.

I had taken a two-day Food Styling course by world renowned food stylist Denise Vivaldo who had offered me personal tips of food styling and chasing life goals.
