Tuesday Tunes / 25 – Country Heart
You might be surprised to find that country music is one of my favorite genres. (With pop and today’s hits being up there, too.) It wasn’t until my tween years that I fully appreciated and fell in love with country, but I’ve been hooked ever since.
Back in the day, LeAnn Rimes was one of my favorite singers. Other artists that I’ve listened to a lot include Sugarland (I wish they would get back together.), Martina McBride, Rascal Flatts, Jo Dee Messina, Deana Carter, Dixie Chicks, . . . .The list goes on. In fact, I have a 90s Country playlist on Spotify that I often run to. You can check that out here.
A few weeks ago I realized I hadn’t been listening to country all that much lately. It wasn’t on purpose, I guess I just forgot about it. That sounds weird, but it’s true.
So, I tuned into the country station in my car and checked out the current country hits on Spotify. Just a few songs in, I fell right back in love. If you follow my Instagram stories, you probably already know this as I’ve been sharing screenshots of a few new favorites like “God Bless This Mess” from Jillian Jacqueline and “Be Yourself” from Seth Alley.
The thing I love most about country music is that the vast majority of the songs tell a story. They aren’t just random strings of words on repeat to a manufactured (yet typically fun) beat. Don’t get me wrong though, I’m still shaking my booty to Charli XCX’s new track “
If you’re a country music lover or you simply want to take a listen to some different jams, I created a new Tuesday Tunes Playlist: Country Heart. You can hear this Tuesday Tunes playlist using the player below or directly on Spotify here.
Feel free to follow me on Spotify for all of my playlists and sneak listens to upcoming Tuesday Tunes.
Are you a country music fan? Who are some of your favorite songs and artists, both new and old?
