Wicked and Eclectic Halloween Table Setting (Inspired by Charm)

Today on IBC, I’m kicking off this spooktacular time of the year with a wicked and eclectic Halloween table setting.

I’ve come to realize that I like Halloween a lot more than I thought I did. Like Christmas (but in a totally different way), there’s a certain enchantment about Halloween. Movies and shows such as “Teen Witch,” “Harry Potter,” “Sabrina the Teenage Witch,” “Elvira,” “Hocus Pocus,” and “Halloweentown” have always captured my attention. I think the element of magic brings a sense of excitement and anticipation. Does that make sense?

Teen Witch” is still one of my top five movies of all time. If you haven’t seen it, I highly recommend it.

Because I really do enjoy Halloween, I decided to have more fun with it this year and share some creative ideas that may inspire all of you.

And since I’ve been enjoying decorating my new round dining table, I thought I’d start with that.

My friends over at Grandin Road, the masters of Halloween, kindly sent me a few of their Halloween products, which you will see gracing my table.

I opted to forgo a traditional tablecloth or placemats and went with this gray gauze instead. You can find it at most stores that carry Halloween decor, and it’s not very expensive. It works perfectly as the base for a table setting. (I used the same kind of cloth in black for my Halloween table last year.)

Next, I added white dinner plates, plum-colored napkins (which were chosen to match the orchid), and a set of Witchy Word plates from Grandin Road. I thought they were perfect.

For my centerpiece, I used a single potted orchid. I think the orchid, especially in this deep purple color, has an eerie beauty befitting the holiday. From a certain angle, its flowers look like little dragon heads.

To give it a little sparkle, I brought out my vintage brass coupe glasses. Brass is one of those details that works well for Halloween decor. I found these glasses at a thrift shop this summer.

As a final touch, I scattered a few black metal pumpkins and a bunch of oversized eyeballs around the table. Aren’t they fabulous!? With minimal effort, your table looks perfectly creepy.
