Review: Everlane Chunky Knit Raglan

EVERLANE chunky knit raglan / LF jeans

My dear friend D gave me some advice before I moved. “Don’t buy anything. You won’t know what you need until you get there and you might end up wasting money.” Sound advice. Of course I didn’t listen.

Because my bar for normal weather starts at 70 degrees, I immediately went to my dealer and got the warmest thing I could find. I’m glad I did since the weather went from crisp and sunny to grey and drizzly overnight.

I don’t generally review clothes but if any of you were considering this sweater, I’d cosign the purchase. The wool is very, very soft and comfortable to wear. The sweater hangs off the body in a flattering way – not too boxy (*cough* Madewell *cough*) and not too tight – and it looks equally nice topping loose fit bottoms as it does close fit. It’s not apparent in the photo (and not as visible on the darker colors), but there’s a nice geometric detail in the knit.

As for function, this thing is seriously warm. I’ve never experienced my hands and arms being two completely different temperatures before. Shit just doesn’t seem natural. Depending on how things go in the next couple of weeks, I might buy the grey version. The other sweaters I have are built more for warmer weather and I’m still working on how to layer properly since it’s now required. Judge me not.

So do any of you have anything from the Chunky Knit collection? I was considering the sleeveless turtleneck at one point, but my present self is thanking my past self for not giving into temptation.
