my makeup essentials

Lately I have been obsessed with watching YouTube makeup tutorial videos. If there’s nothing on tv, I will just watch a million makeup videos. I’ve had the same makeup routine for years but recently I’ve slowly started mixing it up. I’m usually too lazy to wear foundation and just do the same very simple eyeliner everyday. But as time flies by, my face is reminding me that I ain’t gettin’ any younger (my face apparently has bad grammar…) so I’ve been trying out different foundations and actually wearing (nude) lipstick on occasion! Baby steps. So here are my fave new items of the moment along with my old standbys.

L’Oreal lipstick in Fairest Nude – Apparently the hot thing right now is big old Kylie Jenner lips in a nude shade. I do not have those lips but I do like this lip color a lot. I’m still getting old the whole “I-look-like-a-demented-clown” thing when I wear darker colors, so a nude lipstick suits me just fine. Plus I usually like more eye makeup, so a lighter lip works out.

Givenchy Teint Couture Foundation in Elegant Beige – Yeah, this is pricey but I just fell in love with it when I tried it at Sephora. As I said, I’m new to wearing foundation, so I love how light this is and non-sticky or greasy feeling. Plus it has SPF 20 which is a nice bonus.

Givenchy Mister Light Corrective Pen in Macaroon – Ok, ok, the people at Sephora definitely saw a sucker coming and I bought this other pricey item by Givenchy. This is a great lightening concealer that I use for my dark under-eye circles. It’s also lightweight and I like that it doesn’t crease.

Maybelline Lasting Drama by Eye Studio Gel Liner in Blackest Black – I’ve been working on my cat eye game and I love this gel liner. It’s a little pot with a skinny little flat brush. I thought it would be a mess but it’s actually really easy to use. You can see my most recent attempt on Instagram.

L’Oreal Paris Revitalift Miracle Blur Instant Skin Smoother (SPF 30) – This blur cream is awesome. If I’m not in a foundation mood (which is pretty likely), I love using this to even out my complexion a bit without a face of makeup. Plus it’s got some SPF too.

L’Oreal Paris Youth Code Texture Perfector Pore Vanisher – This works similarly to the blur cream but since it doesn’t have SPF, I use it in the evenings if I’m not wearing foundation. Easy.

Nars blush in Angelika – This is a great blush – it’s very pink and natural looking. A little goes a long way to add a little color to my cheeks.

MAC eyeshadow in Coquette – I’ve been using this eyeshadow for years to fill in my eyebrows. I have pretty much no eyebrows so I need all the help I can get. I might try some brow gels and things soon too, to help out the poor little eyebrows a bit more.

Chanel Stylo Yeux Waterproof Eyeliner in Ebene – This is my number one product. I’ve used it for years and it is the perfect eyeliner. It goes on easily and stays put all day.

Maybelline Lash Discovery Waterproof Mascara in Very Black – This was my favorite mascara for years but then I tried out some pricier mascaras. But I seriously have pretty much no eyelashes at all soooooooo nothing is going to be a miracle. I like this mascara because the skinny brush doesn’t make my lashes clumpy.

Benefit Eye Bright – This eye brightener is great for helping me to look more refreshed. Sometimes I will just apply it to my eyelids to even out the skintone. Then I add a little to the inner corners of my eyes to brighten them up a bit too.

Sigma Beauty F82 brush – This is pretty much the first nice makeup brush I’ve bought and it’s great to use for apply foundation. It’s so soft and fluffy!

So those are a few of my go-to’s and newer faves! What are some of your current faves? Also what are your plans for the weekend? I have some news to share with you all next week so check back!
