thrifting haul

How was everyone’s weekend? Mine was fun and over too fast. As always. I had some fun checking out an estate sale and visiting furniture and consignment stores. I’ve been working on getting better at thrifting/antiquing and I think I was pretty successful this weekend. Let me show you my newest buys, as well as some other recent great thrifting finds. (Plus check out my post on How to Thrift Better.)

First up is this awesome vintage/antique/I-don’t-know-old-it-is settee I got at a local consignment store. We need furniture for our formal living room and this is a start. It’s too small to be the main couch/seating for this room, but I’m going to use it as one of the seating areas in this room. It’s actually in perfect condition and I don’t think we even need to reupholster it (even though I think it would look so cool in a vibrant fabric). Now we just need to get some fun pillows to dress up.

The next find is from an estate sale at a house just a few doors away from our house. It was easy to just walk up to the house to check out the sale. This chair is in near perfect condition and I love the pop of color it adds. We want to eventually get another colorful chair in this room too.

Next up is a purse I found about a month or so ago at a local antique store. I’m in love with this bag and it’s in great condition. It’s hard to tell but it’s ivory, so it goes with pretty much everything.

The next item is a fun tray I got at the same consignment shop as the settee. It’s a wooden tray with I guess some old timey hunting scene or something on it. I just liked it and I’ll find somewhere to put it.

The last find I’m sharing is some art I found at Goodwill for only $12! I’m loving how traditional and classic it is. Our house is pretty traditional, which isn’t usually what I like. So I’m trying to find traditional pieces I like and then mix them with some fun pieces and mid century modern flair. It won’t be easy to do but it’s a fun process!

So those are my latest thrifting finds. It takes longer to fill your house with second hand pieces, but it’s fun (and usually cheaper!) And I love getting unique one-of-a-kind items for our house. Hopefully I can continue to find other good deals! Anyone else been thrifting or visiting yard sales this summer?
