Burberry Prorsum menswear Autumn Winter 2015 London Collections: Men

“Happy New Year and welcome to the show,” said Christopher Bailey in the famous email that is sent out to all the guests at every season’s Burberry Prorsum show.

It is always a pleasure to escape from the Holborn area – where most of the London Collections: Men shows are – and walk into London’s Kensington Gardens to go to the Burberry show.

With his Autumn Winter 2015 “Classically Bohemian” collection, chief executive officer and chief creative officer Christopher Bailey celebrated his last few collections for Burberry Prorsum, by including paisley, floral and leopard prints taken from the fashion house’s archive.

Right before the show started, the rainy London weather disappeared by velvet curtains covering the transparent walls of the fashion house’s custom-built show venue. The darkness that was created and the beautiful tiled catwalk ascertained a strong intimate atmosphere.

‘Bohemian layering’ was the key element in Bailey’s latest collection. Quilted donkey jackets styled as shirts, oversized fringed scarves worn as ponchos and bomber jackets that were shearling-lined – all new silhouettes this season – made sure to create that slightly unexpected feeling Bailey is always aiming for.

All looks in a colour palette varying from ochre yellow to moss green were finished by Burberry’s new accessories, like the new Carryall Bag and ‘70s style Scholar Eyewear collection.

This season Bailey – a big fan and supporter of young British musical talent – invited singer-songwriter Clare Maguire to sing four songs while models were coming down the runway, while George Cosby and Tenterhook were entertaining the entering and exiting guests.

The falling silver glitters – just as shiny as some of the sequin key looks – at the finale was the perfect ending of another absolutely gorgeous Burberry Prorsum runway show.
