Striped Mason Jar Tutorial
I love a good DIY project, but only if it's easy! I've done a a few simple tutorials including a
glitter champagne bottle and a
glitter mason jar vase. Not only are these crafts adorable but they also make perfect gifts. I do understand, though, that not everyone has an obsession with glitter like me, so for my latest project I decided to ditch the sparkle and keep it simple. My newest creation is a striped mason jar that only requires three steps.
mason jar | spray paint | tape | ruler Here's how to make your own striped mason jar in just three easy steps:
Step 1: apply tape to jar, deciding how many stripes you'd like. I used a ruler to keep it uniform.
Step 2: lightly
apply a layer of
spray paint, holding the jar a few feet away from the spray can. Do this is sections, letting each dry before moving on to the next.
Step 3: after paint has dried, remove the tape.
Add some flowers and you've got a stylish vase that'll cost way less than something similar you'd buy!
Tip: I made the mistake of standing the jar up and spraying it all at once from a close distance (you can see the big circle below where the paint was applied to thickly). That caused the paint to run and clump. To fix, I blotted the wet paint with a napkin for a textured look.
