Wang for Balenciaga

Kate Middleton's pregnancy was just one of the big announcements made today. PPR officially named Alexander Wang the new creative director at Balenciaga and finally put all those rumors to rest. Of course the decision has been met with mixed reviews, some praise, some criticism. The twenty-eight year old designer is best known for covetable accessories, street wear, slouchy tees and "downtown" style and many wonder how his aesthetic and work would fit into the heritage of the fashion house. He also has big shoes to fill following former Balenciaga creative director Nicolas Ghesquière who is often credited with reviving the brand. While I was sad to see Ghesquière go, I'm still excited to see what Wang will bring to the brand. So I hastily put together a few of my favorite looks from Wang's recent shows. I wonder if they're any indication as to how his work for Balenciaga will be?
