hello camera. [a workshop]

no matter what you start with, either an iPhone or a point-and-shoot that fits neatly in your ‘going out’ purse, a lot of us decide at some point to move up to something a bit more. truth is, even point-and-shoot cameras can do a lot more than you think they can. but this is for the next step up. the camera you buy when you want to start capturing images a little faster than the time it takes your phone or point and shoot to focus, think, flash, and resolve. as we all soon learn, it doesn’t matter what your camera is capable of if you don’t know how to use it.

quite often, i have friends, clients, or family ask for pointers and some even go as far as to say they would love it if i offered some kind of class.

i’m not saying i know it all. but i can introduce you to your camera. i can help explain what the main functions are and how you can use them to get great impromptu photos of your your grandmother’s next visit or your niece’s dance recital.

i think hiring a professional photographer for the biggest moments in your life is really important – like finally welcoming a new member to your family, celebrating how much you love each other, or promising that love to someone for the rest of your life. but you can’t hire a professional photographer to be there for everything in between, all the time. and sometimes the little in-between stuff is the big stuff. or at least it is for me and the people i love working with. so if that’s you, and you want to be able to run and grab the camera with confidence as life happens, then…

…come!
on saturday, march 15, 2014 or saturday march 22, 2014

…bring
–> yourself
–> your camera
–> your camera’s manual (if you have it)
–> any questions you want to ask me

to
denver, nc (about 30 minutes north of uptown Charlotte)

at
8:00am

and
we’ll talk a little bit at first but the majority of the time, we’ll spend with cameras in-hand actually doing stuff as we are talking about it. i really think it’s the best way to learn!

we’ll break for lunch around 12. you’re more than welcome to choose from any of the local places to eat but if anyone wants to continue to talk shop, a group of us can go to lunch together. at 1:30 we’ll head back out to just shoot. for the next two hours (or more, if we are having fun, learning a lot and thinking of great questions), we’ll take pictures. i’ll be there with my camera too and will be able to answer more specific questions one-on-one as you’re trying the things we talked about that morning.

if you want to take advantage of all the features you thought were exciting when you decided to buy your camera… then come hang out out on march 15th and let me introduce you to them!

each spot is $350.00 (and includes)

–> 4 hours of learning the basics hands-on
–> lunch
–> 2 hours of practicing and exploring with plenty of time for q a
–> gallery of images from our day!
–> a private Facebook group where you can ask questions before and after our workshop and connect with each other.
–> giveaways!! the biggest one being “a day in the life” session with me to use anytime in 2014, but i’ll have some fun small stuff too!

if you want to head out during the break, that’s ok too but for those who want to stay, you can ask me anything one-on-one during q a. it’s a great time to dig a little deeper or give me specific ideas about how you plan to use your camera and the most important factors in those situations.

there are only 6 spots available for each date so…
