The New England Aquarium

Although it looks nice outside, it was FREEZING! I hated my outfit choice.

We took a bus from campus.

This is the aquarium.

I planned out the day, which did not go according to schedule...

These little guys were favorite! They're the African penguins. Being African myself, I was totally feeling them. And penguins are like my favorite animal!

They were amazing swimmers, too.

These are the blue penguins, which I had not heard of until a couple of days ago and they are apparently the smallest species of penguin in the world.

This is the view of the harbor, which is near where we ate lunch (I cooked :)

This is the first exhibit we saw after the penguins. I don't know if you can tell, but those things on the floor of the tank are jellyfish.

That was the sting ray/shark touch tank; I decided not to part take today...

That's Ray Charles.

The sea lion exhibit

That'll be me in like 2 months...

Okay, believe it or not, this thing is actually alive; it's an Emperor Nautilus.

Anyone else know fish could just lay on the bottom of tank like that? It's kind of interesting.

That's the front of the sea dragon tank; I never knew that sea dragons were a species either.

Zoomed in for a close up... They're very photogenic.

This is the top of the entire fish tank that spans three levels in the aquarium.

I don't know if you can tell, but that sea turtle was enormous.

These are sea worms that burrow into the ground and just...sort of sit there...

A bird's eye view of the African penguin exhibit, from the top level of the aquarium.

So, Friday we found out about a trip my school was hosting to Boston on Saturday, so we went. It was all very last minute, but I had not been out of state in ages and I was not too busy, so I figured why not? It was a lot of fun; I used to go to the aquarium all the time when I lived in Brooklyn, so I do enjoy a good visit. I liked that the New England Aquarium was near the city; even though I prefer Brooklyn and Manhattan to Boston (hands down.) Also, Boston was a little empty yesterday, but that's alright, I still had a good time and good old Starbucks hunt. (I suppose this is kind of like a review of the place now.) It would have also been better if most of the restaurants and stores were actually open on Saturday, which I found odd that they were not. It was a fun trip and of course the penguins were awesome, so I might see more of Boston in the future, but perhaps I'll stick to Coney Island Aquarium, though. Adios! -Kelly
