Date Night Beauty

I wouldn't call myself a product junkie but more of a beauty loyalist. I find a brand I love and I stick with them through thick and thin -- or I guess in the beauty world, through new launches and discontinuations of products. One brand that I've used for years is Laura Mercier. I've always loved a natural approach to makeup -- never wanting to look overdone and Laura Mercier's products always give me that natural look. I've been a fan of her products for years, so I am extra excited to announce my partnership with Laura Mercier to bring you a few of my favorite makeup looks in the next few months. Since I tend to wear fairly similar makeup every day, I thought that I'd give you guys something a bit different. A smokey date night look that is perfect for summer evenings.

To make sure that my makeup looks smooth and stays on, I start with a primer over my daily moisturizer. Laura Mercier Foundation Primer Radiance feels like silk on my face and gave me a radiant finish. I've tried a lot of primers and they tend to feel sticky or heavy. This one just feels like another layer of moisturizer. Apply this over your moisturizer and under your foundation.

For this date night look with a smokey eye, I go ahead with my normal beauty routine of foundation, Laura Mercier High Coverage Concealer, and a bit of bronzer from my temples to my cheeks. I make sure to blend everything in, so it all looks lightweight and not caked on. I wanted to keep this look light and bright.
I went ahead and filled in my brows and swept a light base eyeshadow over my entire lid. Then I started with the Laura Mercier Caviar Stick Eye Colours. With the Sugar Frost shade, I lined my inner lid since it gives it a bit of a highlight to this smokey look. Then I took the Amethyst shade and went over my entire lid. It goes on very smoothly and will feel like a lot of color at first, but I use my finger to blend the cream shadow in my eyelid up to the crease of my eye. To give a little bit of dimension, I take the Rosegold shade and swipe it right at my crease and blend again with my finger. That's why I like using cream eyeshadows from time to time -- they are easy to use and easy to blend. You can't really mess up. This particular cream shadow doesn't crease or become oily, which can happen with cream shadows. It stayed on all evening.

For a subtle smokey look, I use a small brush and smudge a dark brown shadow into my lash line, both top and bottom. I typically use a liquid eye liner on just my top lids, so this gives me a different and softer look. I then use one of my favorite mascara's on the market right now, Laura Mercier Extra Lash Sculpting Mascara. I'm a as-many-coats-as-it-takes kind of mascara girl, but this kind only needs 1-2 coats and it stays all day long with no clumps or running. So impressive.
To finish the look, I apply a peachy blush on the apples of my cheeks and coral lipgloss to keep the look light and fresh. And that's it! The easiest date night look that you can easily recreate.
