violet is 3

Our sweet little Vi turned 3 today. THREE! It's still a bit hard for me to wrap my head around that. I feel like her toddler years are going by so fast and she's always just so eager to grow up and do everything the big kids are doing. "No it's just fine mom, just fine" she says when she's hurrying off to do something she knows she's maybe not quite big enough to do, like ride on the biggest horse on the carousel or sit wherever she wants in the car. She just goes for it. I love her brave little soul! I think there was a point in my young mother naiveté where I actually thought if we had four children they would be like four little Naomis running around. Ha! So to see first hand just how amazingly different each of our five babes has turned out to be, it's pretty remarkable! Violet is every bit her own little person, she may be our loudest, most demanding, but then she's also just the calmest, sweetest little kid. And her faces... her quirky little smiles and smirks and hilarious laugh when she thinks something is funny, oh they melt me! I'd love to keep her at this age just a while longer. With her fluffy mop of blonde hair and the biggest eyes and longest lashes, and being just the perfect size for piggy back rides. I like it a lot.
In fact the other day I told her I was going into the bedroom to lay down and nurse Eleanor and when I got there she was hopping into bed with me and said "Hi mom, I'm Eleanor" with the sweetest little face like maybe it would work and I could just spend nap time with her instead of dividing it between the two of them. Oh, she is the cutest! I do at times wish I had a slower pace of time to spend with her, as it seems to speed up a bit with each child and I just don't have as much down time as I used to. But thats the amazing thing about kids, they are so forgiving and so adaptable and really do a pretty good job at letting us know when they are needing a little more loving.
So today we lavished our little Vi with all her favorites - macaroni and cheese and apple juice and ice cream and we played outside and read all her favorite books (madeline, peppa pig, winnie the pooh) and she fell asleep happy and tired after her full day. As she went to sleep I wished her one last happy birthday to which she replied "Happy birthday Mom! I'm five!"
