Bax needs to find his best friend and ask him some questions about the night he was arrested. The search for Race leads him to Dovie. Dovie needs Bax’s help to find her brother who is now in hiding. Bax did not even know good, sweet, innocent girls like Dovie existed. Bax knows he needs to stay away from Dovie or he will take her down with him into the darkness.
In order for Bax to get out from under all the darkness he must figure out what happened the night he was arrested by no other than his own brother Titus.
As the web of deceit becomes more clear to Bax and the pieces start to fall together, he and Dovie become very close. Dovie cannot resist the pull that Bax has. She wants him but keeps denying herself because she knows this will not end good for her.
I did not love this series as much as Marked Men but I feel that it is well written and the story is interesting. I like that Bax never really stops being BAX and Dovie just keeps being herself as well. But they influence each other in way to brings out more of the good than the bad.
