I’m back on, folks, after a lovely and unexpected break. Sometimes you just need a bit of technology-free living and now I’m ready to get back to business! Last time we spoke, I was reporting from an undisclosed location (it was Germany! …more on that later), and since then, Christmas and New Years have come, during which Trent & I went home to Florida for time with friends and family. We’ve come back, gotten snowed in, and, we’ve moved house! I am now writing to you from Galashiels, a wee town in the Borders area of Scotland. Life is quieter here, and we will need a bit of adjustment, as we loved Edinburgh so much. However I’m looking forward to ample country walks and getting to know the local sheep!
OK, that quick catch-up out of the way, I’ve got some fantastic news! If you are in or around the Edinburgh area March 16th, you are in for a treat! Some good friends of mine are organising a fantastic event for us fibrey folk: Edinburgh Yarn Festival!
There are going to be some amazing stallholders there: Yarn Pony, Ripples Crafts, and Old Maiden Aunt to name a few!
There are some really great classes planned too. My friend Vala will be teaching Crochet for Knitters; the amazing Karie Bookish will be teaching Two-Handed Colourwork. Oh! And I’ll be teaching! My class is called That Polished Knit, and we’ll focus on the techniques that I use daily, not just in my own knitting at home, but also at work. I really like to make my knits look finished and professional, and can’t wait to share the methods I’ve found really useful.
The folks behind the Fest have a great website set up with loads of useful info. Their blog has been getting me so hyped up for the event! They’ve been posting interviews with the yarn stall holders and are now posting interviews with the teachers. My interview was just published Sunday! Have a read-through if you fancy!
So, do what you can to come to the event, it’s going to be spectacular! Here are the details:
