Star Wars Dark Side 2018 – Monday
I woke up Monday morning knowing I would need to get everything together so I could check in my bag as soon as it opened. Since it leaves 3 hours before your flight now, I opted not to take Magical Express to the airport this time. I got my bag and documents and walked around the back side of the lobby to the luggage check in area. The people there were nice and after waiting for the couple people in front of me, they took my bag with no issues. I had a little time after I checked my bag before I had to call a Lyft, so I went around POP Century and took some pictures. I will admit they are mostly from the lobby to the 80’s section where I was staying.
The first pictures are of the decade numbers on the back side of the main lobby/food court area.
I did find the playground.
One of the 80’s buildings
The computer pool
More 80’s buildings
I swear someone in my family owned one of these that was identical to this huge one.
Before long, it was time for me to say goodbye and call a Lyft. The driver showed up quickly and we were on our way to the airport. It was a pretty quick 32 minute ride. For comparison’s sake, my cost with tip was $29.03 and well worth it to me to have less time hanging out at the airport. I went through the TSA pre-check area with almost no wait. Once I took the train to the gate area, I decided I better get some lunch. I opted for the quick and no line Chinese food.
After I finished eating, I went to my gate. My flight boarded with no issues. The flight itself was not memorable which is a good thing. Once I arrived in Charlotte, I made my way down to baggage claim. It is notoriously slow, so I stopped at the Starbucks down there.
I got my drink and only had to wait another 5 minutes for the bags to come out. All things considered, not a bad wait for Charlotte. Once again, I had used Park ‘n Go. The shuttle showed up promptly and I was at my car. This really is one of the best places to park. There are new off-airport lots starting to open now so I’ll have to keep an eye out. Overall, this was a great trip and one I plan to do again next year.
