An Airy, Barn-Style House in Bridgehampton

I have been majorly into light wood finishes since our stay at the Suzanne Tucker-designed Auberge du Soleil. I am looking forward to using white oak or cerused oak in a future project. In the meantime, I have been drawing inspiration from homes with beautiful, light wood floors and millwork. The other day, I came upon this chic house in Bridgehampton which was featured in Luxe. The homeowners worked on the interiors with Franco Biscardi and Brian Brady of Brady Design while the architecture was designed by James Merrell Architects.

The house is clean and minimalistic, but maintains a rich warmth thanks to the architecture of the home and of course, the beautiful white oak used throughout. You’ll notice that the designers decided against window treatments in order to maintain the clean lines of the architecture. The result is airy and quite striking. I love that this house is chic, yet streamlined. This is a summer home for the homeowners who spend most of their time in Pennsylvania. In my opinion, a vacation home should be polished and beautiful, but shouldn’t be overrun by “stuff”. In order to create a true respite, which is what one wants in a second home, there is a need for harmony and order. This house certainly hits all of the right notes!
