Bright, Young Things

One of my favorite things about attending design events, like Legends of La Cienega which I attended last week in Los Angeles, is that you get to meet so many interesting people. I had the pleasure of meeting Krista Ewart at the dinner at Kathryn Ireland’s home and she is a total doll. Krista’s home is currently featured on the cover and in the pages of the May 2015 issue of House Beautiful and it could not be more perfect for ushering in the summer months.

Krista’s home in the Pacific Palisades area of Los Angeles is filled with vibrant colors, pretty patterns, a touch of Regency style (Krista worked with Ruthie Sommers prior to starting her own firm), and an undeniable joie de vivre. As you’ll see throughout these images, Krista has a true talent for mixing chic textiles. I especially love her selections for her master bedroom and her three little girls’ bedrooms. More importantly, Krista reminds us to have fun with decorating and not to shy away from beautiful things and great fabrics simply because you have young children or pets. Your home should be a true reflection of who you are and what you love. If you’re nervous about stains and scratches– have the materials properly treated and remember that patina is what makes things special in the long run! For more tips on decorating with children in mind and specific item sources, check out Krista’ interview in House Beautiful.
