Fabulous Room Friday 06.19.15 + An Update on Tate

With Tate in the hospital since Saturday, this week has been incredibly stressful and emotional for me. All I want is to be with my sweet dog and to recharge my batteries for a couple of days because I am absolutely drained.

Dering Hall sent out one of their fantastic newsletters yesterday and they featured this fabulous house in the Hamptons by Fox-Nahem. The relaxed, bohemian vibe of the large great room is exactly what I am craving at the moment. I love the mix of furniture– classic mid-century pieces, groovy silhouettes from the 1970s, and classic rattan ideal for a beach house come together to create an ultra-chic weekend retreat. The space is polished and vibrant, yet it maintains an effortless ease and a very cool vibe. It looks like the perfect place to hang out for the weekend and decompress from a stressful week.

{I love the shiplap walls and beamed ceiling in this stunning room. The first photo above shows the way in which the expansive space is divided by the brick fireplace in the center of the room.}

Fabian and I are completely overwhelmed with gratitude to everyone who has called, emailed, texted, and left comments on my social media about our “dog child”, Tate. I feel so blessed to have such thoughtful and caring family, friends, clients, and readers. Thank you so much for keeping him in your thoughts and prayers. It means the world to us. Tate is still in the hospital and the surgeon would like to keep him there through the weekend. We were finally allowed to see him on Wednesday afternoon and had a nice visit. He was able to walk into the room on his own, but was definitely groggy and out of it from his medications. He recognized us and was very sweet and affectionate, but wasn’t totally himself. It was jarring to see his shaved back and long scar, but that will go away with time and it is the least of my worries, although the scar looks so painful. Poor thing! The doctors say Tate is getting stronger everyday and he is regaining use of his legs. We got to take him for a walk during our visit and were shocked by how much he was pulling on his leash. He is definitely regaining his strength!

The issue is that the nerves that control his bladder were also damaged by his spinal injury and he has not been able to fully regain control of it on his own yet. The doctors would like to keep him until the issue is resolved so that he can have a more comfortable recovery at home. We are planning to go see him again on Saturday, especially since the doctors said his condition improved vastly over night after we went to see him. We are taking it day by day right now and continue to hope and pray that Tate will get stronger and regain control of his bladder so that he can have as close to a full recovery as possible and have the highest quality of life that we can give him. Please continue to keep Tate in your thoughts. We are ever so grateful.
