Fabulous Room Friday 06.26.15

I am obsessed with Instagram and love that it allows us to get a glimpse into the worlds of so many talented and interesting people. I follow New York interior designer, Timothy Whealon on Instagram and noticed that he’d posted small peeks of his ever-so-chic Gramercy Park apartment a few times over the last several months. I have been dying to see more, so I was super excited to see that the July/August issue of ELLE DECOR has a full feature on Timothy’s home.

Housed in a Beaux Arts building by architect Emery Roth, the apartment features spectacular views of Manhattan along with a huge terrace. It was love at first sight for Timothy, just as I immediately fell in love with the photo above. I love the tailored, masculine aesthetic of the room. There are a few graphic, yet subtle patterns, a great mix of old and new, and incredible art including works by Ellsworth Kelly and Richter. While more modern in nature, the space feels inviting and extremely personal– just as all the best interiors do.

{The living room opens onto the sleek, glossy kitchen and overlooks the spectacular terrace as well. How amazing are the floor steel doors and windows? If you click on this photo to enlarge it, you’ll see that the striped rug is actually made of abaca– super chic! The sofa was inspired by a classic Billy Baldwin design.}
