Style File: Violets are Blue

Feeling very noble in this velvet ensemble, a beautiful looking fabric associated with the ‘upper class’. You either love it or you hate it, a bit like Marmite, it has a very unique texture. Personally, I love how it looks, but I feel like chopping my hands off after touching it; it is one of things I do not like the feel of. Saying that though, I am a sucker for pretty things and I will brave my fears if it means looking royal.

It is amazing to think this fabric finds its origins in Baghdad and has links to Arabs. The design of this dress is so fitting to the class it is associated with, if it were floor scrapping it could totally pass for a 15th century gown fit for a princess.

I love looking fabulous, but fabulous with a twist. I am not the most regal sort of dresser, I love to give ‘lady like’ a street edge. These high leg, faux suade boots seemed the perfect fit for making this dress work for me and my style. Pairing the earrings and bag, we move from 15th century noble lass, to modern day hippy. Austin Powers groovy baby! …sorry random outburst.

How do you like my modern day ‘mid curtsey’? Ha!
