When I was a kid I was desperate to be a Mouseketeer. My parents moving to the States kind of made me think that I’d be discovered any day in my school plays (especially the roles of Veruca Salt, Citizen Five and Piece of Dirty Laundry) from the age of 10-14… a total lack of talent wouldn’t get in the way because I had CHARM and charisma, or so my granny would tell me. Skip forward a couple of decades and I’m still shocked that I never got to join Christina, Britney and JT but I’m kind of over it now – I’m Tiger Mothering BLC so dreams of fame are not dead yet.
Doesn’t the Biscuiteers have a good sounding name though? I think they must have been inspired by the same people that filled my pipe dreams, but instead they put their own talents to good use and started teaching visitors to their Notting Hill workshop the ways of the piping bag and spatula instead.
Easter
What results is the cutest shop in the entire world. They stock biscuits, cake and chocolate. It’s basically my dream shop come true. I took Mr Man Jr on a date there with cake taster number 1 Friend R yesterday. R’s palate is like no one else’s, especially when it comes to cake and it wasn’t wrong on this afternoon tea.
We spent a couple of hours ogling nice biscuits and being well impressed with what one can do with a piping bag. What we weren’t expecting was that they would also have petite and perfect scones and simple but outstanding sandwiches.

They asked me to come in and check out their Mother’s Day offerings. If one of my kids (or husband~) turned up with a box of these amazing biscuits they would definitely help me on the way to forgiving how much they’ve made me age in the last two years thanks to all those 3am wake-ups. This is my kind of setting for afternoon tea too – in a lovely quirky shop in one of London’s most unique neighbourhoods.

There’s not much to say. The cakes, including a nicely fudgy brownie and lighter than air fairy cake, are as good as the biscuits, we loved the insanely cute but not twee atmosphere and their sandwiches are surprisingly good – the cucumber had flavour for once!
I’m obsessed with these now.
Would I recommend you take your mum for mothers day? YES. And I have an afternoon tea discount for you at the end of this post too. One can be bribed with biscuits (I’m not ashamed to admit that) but these are jolly good biscuits. They have two branches – one in Notting Hill and one in Battersea – but are also online so if you can’t make it for afternoon tea, at least you can treat your mum or your bestie to some super posh and almost too pretty to eat (but totally worth it when you do) biscuits.
