NTC Tour Sydney, photo diary (I survived!)

Just over a week ago, I put my six weeks of training to the test at NTC Tour Sydney. I was crazy nervous beforehand. Would I pass out? Will I curl up in a ball in a corner with exhaustion? Will I cry? Will I look really gumby doing tuck jumps? (Yes, to the last question, fyi). I had stuck pretty strictly to my work-out schedule leading up to the event, and I was happy and relieved to see it pay off last Saturday. I was sweaty and tired and sore by the end of it, but I had a great time – the atmosphere of more than 2,000 women looking fly and pumped to be there couldn’t not rub off on me. I had fun, I even laughed a little during the exercises (photographic evidence below) and I only really made a fool of myself during the group dance routine at the end. There are just some moves that a lanky 6 foot gal can’t pull off, I guess. Check below for my photo diary of the day :

I began the day with a hearty breakfast at Gowings Bar & Grill, located inside the QT Sydney. I couldn’t decide whether to go with sweet or savoury, so I got both – boiled eggs and toast soldiers as well as yogurt, granola, oats, toasted almonds and marinated plums, and a pot of black coffee.

Selfies to demonstrate how scurrrred I was b4 the 5 hour work out.

The NTC Tour Sydney event production-wise was mental. We got to the Carriageworks pretty early to familiarise ourselves with everything, and pretty much every corner the Auckland crew and I turned, we were all, ‘Wow!’, and ‘whoa!’. It was impressive.

I was thankful our group didn’t have to do the spin class.

I put a shirt on eventually.

Thank goodness for the towel bar, we really needed these!

There were huge arrows pointing to each work out station, as well as food and juice trucks inside and out.

There were a lucky few of us who got the VIP treatment with personalised lockers and a room to ourselves where we could have our nails painted, hair braided, and a bunch of healthy food to snack on.

I took advantage of the hair braiding :

OK, so now to the actual working out part. We first did a 45 minute group ‘warm-up’, which for me turned out to be the most intense work out of the day. I gotta give props to kiwi Nike Master Trainer Kirsty Godso. We’re really lucky to be able to have her take our NTC training sessions in Auckland (in between her travelling the world for Nike & Les Mills), and she prepared us really well for the Sydney event, and it was a kinda geeky proud moment seeing her up there on the main stage. It was also like, ‘oh man, Kirsty’s up there, I better go hard!’

Kirsty’s like yeahhhh gurrrrl.

Tuck jumps, not keen.

Serious Lani, air-punching.

See? I’m laughing. WE’RE ALL SO HAPPY TO BE FITSPO.

One of our other work-out classes was a boxing class. I was really looking forward to this one, but we did so many burpees, and ab exercises, and I was all mayyyyyne I really feel like punching someone right now, but I’m too tired fo dat.

Oh, and during one of our breaks, Kath and I ate this :

The class that I was most afraid of was our last one, ‘The Circuit’, but it turned out to be my favourite of the day. It’s funny how you can enjoy different types of pain more than others. The bears crawls and walking lunges were pretty shit tbh, and maybe it’s because it was the final class of the day, but I strangely kind of liked the pain of the tricep dips, and the elevated press ups. Throwing a medicine ball as hard I could on the ground was pretty fun too.

Kath, never not social media-ing :

We rounded the day off with a big dance party, sparkly confetti, and Havana Brown singing ‘We Run The Night.’

Bruh. I have never had such sore calf muscles as I did the next few days after NTC Syd. I went and got a foot and leg massage hoping it would help, but I almost cried it was so sore hahaha.

Stole this pic from Kath’s page, the choice as NZ media crew I rolled with, (L to R) : Katherine (Is Awesome) , Olivia from Cleo, Jade Hurst from Raw, Aroha(ha) from George FM, Randy from Raw & Lani (Says) / Me! Yeaaaaa boiiiii.

TEH END.
